Two of the UK’s leading business crime partnerships, Retailers Against Crime (RAC) and UK Partners Against Crime (UKPAC), have signed a new Information Sharing Agreement (ISA) that will significantly strengthen the fight against retail and business crime across the UK.
This landmark collaboration will allow the two organisations to share intelligence on prolific offenders and emerging crime trends, giving businesses, police, and partner agencies an unprecedented joined-up approach to tackling crime.
The partnership is a natural fit. RAC’s footprint covers Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the North West of England, while UKPAC is rapidly expanding across England and Wales. Together, they now provide a truly UK-wide network dedicated to protecting retailers, colleagues, and communities.
The collaboration has been made possible thanks to both organisations’ use of the SentrySIS intelligence platform, which enables secure, efficient, and real-time sharing of relevant data and evidence. This means offenders – particularly those who travel across regional or national borders – will no longer be able to exploit gaps between systems or jurisdictions.
Crucially, the benefits go beyond retail businesses. Retail crime has a direct and damaging effect on communities, not only through the financial losses suffered by local shops, but also through the negative impact on staff safety, customer confidence, and community wellbeing. Everyone has the right to feel safe where they work and shop, and by sharing intelligence, both organisations will be able to help keep members and their communities safer.
Both RAC and UKPAC have already demonstrated proven results through their intelligence-led models, supporting an impressive track record of arrests and successful prosecutions. The ability to share information nationally will only enhance these results further, ensuring that prolific and mobile offenders are identified, tracked, and brought to justice more effectively.
“This agreement represents a significant advancement in the national effort to tackle retail crime,” said Maxine Fraser, Managing Director of RAC. “By sharing intelligence, we not only make it more difficult for offenders to operate but also enhance the safety of our members and the communities we serve.”
Gareth Lewis, Chairman – UKPAC added: “By working together, local and regional partnerships can now deliver the joined-up national coverage businesses and communities have been asking for — with real, measurable results.”
The agreement provides businesses, police forces, and Police and Crime Commissioners with a clear route into a strong, intelligence-led national partnership. It demonstrates the shared commitment of both RAC and UKPAC to innovation, collaboration, and practical solutions in the fight against business crime.
