The UK Partners Against Crime (UKPAC) platform has been featured by BBC News as its successful crime-reduction technology continues to expand from the retail sector into the night-time economy.

The UKPAC app, powered by SentrySIS, has already played a key role in tackling shoplifting and persistent criminal behaviour across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Since its launch earlier this year, the platform has helped secure approximately 45 years of prison sentences for repeat prolific offenders.

Working closely with Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, UKPAC enables retail staff and businesses to easily report incidents and share intelligence with each other and with the police. This partnership has contributed to identifying 66 high-profile offenders, while also saving police nearly a month of operational time.

Following that success, the initiative is now being extended to pubs, bars and licensed venues to help address ongoing challenges with anti-social behaviour, violence and drug-related incidents.

Venues welcome the impact

Steve Hudson, Chairman of Portsmouth City Pubwatch, told the BBC:

“I’ve been in the trade since 1986 and that’s not changed, really. The app is about trying to make everything as safe as possible for everybody.”

Portsmouth venue operator, Jamie Peckham of The Painters Arms, added:

“If I know their face and that they could cause trouble, I can tell them to leave before they even get in here.”

Both comments highlight how UKPAC gives frontline staff the intelligence and confidence to act early and prevent risk escalating.

Creating safer nighttime communities

By equipping venues with real-time information about known troublemakers, the platform allows teams to work together more effectively, helping ensure safer nights out for staff, customers and the wider community.

Gareth Lewis, Chairman of UKPAC said:

“Tackling retail crime was only the beginning. This expansion into the night-time economy demonstrates the value of shared intelligence and strong partnership working — stopping repeat offenders in their tracks.”
